Who am I?

I am a game designer, writer, educator, researcher, and artist, but I'm never sure what to put down first. Pretty much every day for me involves all of these tasks. I do a lot of research, and I make a lot of art, and I come up with creative ways of combining those things and then writing, speaking and making games about them..

I am the founder of Metaversal Studios, a progressive and wacky entertainment studio in Boston, MA. We divide our time between contract game design and development work and creating our own products. We've made board games, card games, social games, big games, games for learning, games for change... and also animated TV series proposals, comics, and Burning Village, the college humor site that I founded at some point in the 1990s, which only recently finally began to find its groove. There's more about this on the Game Design page.

I am also the Assistant Director for Game Design programs at Northeastern University, where I have been teaching since the turn of the millennium. While at Northeastern, I've developed courses in game design, scriptwriting, web design, multimedia programming, and interactive design (the kind where you actually touch stuff!). There's more about this on the Teaching & Research page.

Finally, I do a lot of writing, and more and more public speaking in the form of talks and workshops. You should have me write something for your publication or have me come talk to your employees. Aw, c'mon, it'll be fun!
